If you are looking to find a house to rent then there are a few things you need to think about before you make a start trying to source properties. So, first of all you should:

Work out how much you can afford to pay in rent every month
Think about the area(s) in which you might want to live
Put some thought into what you want in a house - i.e. how big it needs to be and whether you need a garage, drive or parking space and so on.

Sometimes your best bet will be a standard estate agent that also rents out properties on behalf of landlords and sometimes you'll be better off using a specialist letting agency. Your options here will depend on the area to which you want to move.

These agencies work with landlords to help them find tenants - if you are unsure which agencies to use then it is always useful to look at local newspapers on the day(s) that properties are advertised to see what your options are. Local newspapers and other similar publications can also be a useful way to find a house to rent. And, don't forget about looking online here. Some local and national listings magazines/papers also have a flourishing online presence when it comes to house rentals. Do bear in mind here that not all landlords and people that rent out houses will use an agency and many will prefer to find their own tenants as this will be cheaper for them.
